Greed

Greed and Poverty have something in common
Both relations to money, they diverge and form a junction
The way to the left is paved with an unholy thirst and greed
A path chosen due to self satisfaction, not need
The greed in man is a callous consuming disease
One that feeds from the poor with disconcerting ease
Where is the compassion for your fellow human I hear you say?
I apologise because my news for you is harsh in nature today
Whilst fellow humans starve, thirst and freeze to death
The greed infected man drains out as much money as he can
What he fails to grasp is that when he dies he leaves the wealth behind on earth
The once poor man so desperate to escape his wretched past...
Forgets his roots and nails his flag to the greedy mast
Greed turns drive and ambition into a race to amass more than is required
But wait a minute, how much money do you actually need?
Or are his eyes so blinded to morality that his bank account is all he can read?
The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer
That's the current state of affairs, the lure of money grows ever stronger
Do not get me wrong, I plan to work hard and succeed
To reap the wealth that is borne from the diligence seed
My message says "beware of greed- a nasty disease"
A money addiction, a deadly thirst that will never cease
